Good morning, Dallas.
Here’s the coolest way I met a neighbor recently.
A heavy rain pounded the neighborhood. Two dogs chose my porch as their place of refuge. Luckily, they were wearing tags with their names, Bear and Coco, plus the owner’s phone number.
I called the owner, who gave me instructions on leading the dogs back home, entering the front door, grabbing two Milk-Bone treats, and securing the dogs in their kennel.
I think I’m part of the pack now.

From My Week
I attended the grand opening of White Rock Coffee in Historic Lakewood.
I spoke briefly with owners Bob and Nancy Baker. They shared about opening their first location 19 years ago in what used to be a Church’s Chicken.
Some highlights from Saturday:

🚲 Bike rack shaped like a coffee mug
🎈 Balloons celebrating WRC’s 7th location
🍪 Sugar cookies honoring Lakewood Theater

Remember the Alamo (Drafthouse)
The parent company of Alamo Drafthouse filed for bankruptcy and announced it would be shutting down all five of its DFW locations. Less than a day earlier, the Angelika Film Center closed up shop at the Shops at Legacy in Plano. An unfortunate one-two punch for Dallas movie theaters. The Angelika location at Mockingbird Station in Dallas will remain open.

Scheffler Sets Earnings Record… Again
There’s a reason he holds the world’s #1 ranking. Dallas-born golfer Scottie Scheffler won the Memorial Tournament on Sunday, marking his fifth tournament win of the year. In 2023, he set the single-season PGA Tour earnings record at $21 million. This year, he jumped to $24 million. And that’s with three months left in the season.
